I feel honored to be one of the lecturers at the public seminar “Fashion Design or Mind Design?” at the Art Academy of Latvia in Riga. The idea of the seminar is to promote a more circular and sustainable fashion in the Baltic Sea region and tackle the growing sustainability challenges facing the planet and our societies.
Here is what I will talk about:
Fashion always reflects a society. We will examine and compare fashion to tendencies and trends of other spheres of life, and how different aspects of life interact with fashion. We will investigate Slow Fashion as one example of a fashion industry that needs to transform and restructure. We will analyse how designers can handle an unpredictable future.
Other lecturers are:
Emelie Hammen, fashion historian
Alessandro Turco, creative director Maison Luciano Soprano
Emil Rode, MBA and design thinker
Moderator: Janis Gailitis, LMA, design strategist
The seminar will be held in English.
